The Scale was started by a pair of chefs who were above all else...hungry. We craved a quick, healthy option close to work and home, and were frequently left wishing for more. It all came together on a trip to San Francisco where we had our first mainland style poke bowls. We were immediately hooked.

When we returned home, we found ourselves craving poke. After weeks of wishing we could grab a quick bowl, we chose to stop craving and start getting to work. We decided if we can’t go to the poke, we’d bring the poke to us! 

Finally we traveled to Hawaii, the birthplace of poke. We explored Oahu and stopped at every poke spot we could find. The combination of amazingly fresh fish, simple sauces, and friendly hospitality only reassured us that we were on the right track. Throw in an açaí bowl or two (let's be real, it was everyday) for breakfast, and we were ready to come home and get to work.
